Financial Support
JACT Durham Bursaries
It’s our mission to make Classics and Classics education open and accessible to all, regardless of age or educational background. Moreover, everyone who wants to study the Classical World, including its languages should have this opportunity. Thanks to our generous donors, the JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School is delighted to be able to offer limited financial support in the form of bursaries to those students who would otherwise be unable to attend the course.
For 2026 we are pleased to announce that we have two different types of bursary available for students who need financial assistance. The bursaries are intended solely to contribute towards the course fees. A ‘Financial Hardship’ bursary is intended specifically for students who due to financial circumstances wouldn’t under normal circumstances be able to afford the full cost of the course. An ‘Access to Classics’ bursary is for those students who have little to no access to Classics and Classics education in their school or college and would also need support with the course fees.
Please note, you can only apply to one of the bursary funds.
If you are at school, college, or university, we would also recommend that you speak to them first about your plans to attend the Summer School, as oftentimes they also have funds available to support students attending summer programmes.
To apply for a JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School bursary to help towards the course fees you must first register on the course by clicking the ‘Apply Now’ button.
Once you’ve registered on the course, please complete either the ‘Financial Hardship’, or ‘Access to Classics’ bursary form in full, and only complete the form once. The outcome of your bursary application will be communicated in May 2026 when the JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School Leadership Team have convened and reviewed all bursary applications. Please be aware that the amounts we can offer will depend entirely on demand and the funds we receive from our generous donors.
When applying for a bursary, we kindly ask that you please only apply for the minimum amount that you need to be able to attend the course. By doing so it'll mean that we'll able to offer as many bursaries as possible to those who need them.
All questions relating to bursaries should be sent to the Course Director on - tony.durham.lgss@gmail.com
