JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School

At the JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School we offer courses at five levels in both Latin and Greek from Beginner's to Advanced, in addition to a Classical Civilisation course on 'The Homeric Hero'.

All of our courses are prepared and delivered by our team of highly qualified and experienced tutors from schools and universities. Please see 'Courses Offered' for more information.

 Students have 18 hours of tuition for which they are expected to prepare in the time available for private study. We work hard, but also have time for relaxation and optional visits to Hadrian’s Wall, Durham Cathedral, and other local places of interest. In the evenings we have lectures on a wide range of classical & Ancient History related topics from visiting speakers. In the afternoons we run a series of optional sessions which might include grammar clinics, lectures or discussions. On the first night, we meet our teaching groups by teaming up to participate in a Classics & Ancient History quiz. On the last evening, there will be a formal dinner & various entertaining performances by members of the course.
