JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School: Course Timetable 2025

Here's the JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School Course Timetable for 2025. Please click on the image of the timetable to download a PDF. You can then save or print the PDF so you can access it whenever you need it. We don't expect the timetable to change, but if we do need to make any adjustments, you'll always be able to find the most up to date version here. If you have any questions about the course timetable, please get in touch with us!

Classics & Ancient History Quiz Night

Get your thinking caps on! On the first night of the JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School (after the evening meal and the Director's Welcome), you'll meet your tutor and the other learners in your group. We'll then all get together in our tutor groups to take part in the annual JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School Classics & Ancient History Quiz! This is a great opportunity to get to know each other and have some light-hearted fun!

The Hellenic Book Service will be joining us at the JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School as usual this year. Monica and team will be bringing along a wide range of books (new & second hand) and lots of Classics paraphernalia that can be purchased. Monica normally brings everything, bar the kitchen sink, but if you have a specific book you'd like her to bring along for you to purchase, please contact her ahead of the Summer School on enquiries@hellenicbookservice.com

Hadrian's Wall - Field Trip

Our annual field trip to Hadrian's Wall will take place on Wednesday afternoon. The trip is free to attend and optional, but spaces are limited, so we operate on a 'first come, first served' basis. If you would like to go on the field trip, you'll be able to sign up when you arrive on Saturday 26th July. If you chose not to go, then you have a free afternoon to do as you please. You might like to explore Durham Cathedral, the Archaeology Museum, or the Botanical Gardens. If you'd like some advice, please ask a member of the Summer School team.

A Night to Remember - Formal Dinner & Entertainments

On the final night of the JACT Durham Greek & Latin Summer School we will celebrate the week by having a formal dinner! Don't worry though, you don't have to dress up if you don't want to, just wear what you feel comfortable in! If you want to get all suited and booted though, that's fine … you do you! After the formal dinner, we'll get together in the Leech Hall for some entertainment! So, if you play an instrument and you'd like to perform then please bring it along. There'll be music, drama and much more! Speak to your tutor at the Summer School if you'd like to be involved in the evening entertainments.
